Norway originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2020 in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The competition was won by Ulrikke with the song "Attention".
Norway has finished last in eleven Eurovision finals, of which four times with "nul points". Norway has a total of 12 top-five results in the contest, the latest being Alessandra 's fifth place in 2023 .

Despite their losing form, Norway has also won the contest 3 times: Bobbysocks! gave the country its first win in 1985, Secret Garden followed 10 years later in 1995, and in 2009, Alexander Rybak's Fairytale shattered the all-time point record and earned 16 sets of 12-point scores.
However, Norway has won Eurovision three times. First in 1985 with La det swinge (Let It Swing) by Bobbysocks, then in 1995 with Nocturne by Secret Garden. The most recent victory came in 2009 , breaking another (this time more positive) record: Alexander Rybak achieved the highest score ever recorded in the history of Eurovision with his song
Has any act ever won Eurovision more than once? Loreen, of course, triumphed at the 2023 Eurovision Grand Final, making her the first woman to win Eurovision on more than one occasion.
